Choosing, planning and going to a Christening? . . . Begin Here

Christening (sometimes called Baptism) takes place most regularly on the second Sunday of the month at a midday service and we hold the service in one of our two church buildings. It is also possible to hold a Christening as part of one of our regular services. Christening is a welcoming of new members in to the Christian faith, often (but not always) as small children, where their parents and godparents will speak for them and make promises on their behalf. Christenings are celebratory occasions where there is a sense of meeting God in an atmosphere of thanks. There may be several families gathered together, and we can baptise candidates from more than one family at the Christening service. Our parish has a team who run a preparation evening prior to the service at which initial questions are dealt with and informal discussion is held.
Thanks

Thank you for being part of [child's name]'s special Christening day and conducting the service. (2024)

Thanks so much for the service Sunday - [mother] and I thought it was absolutely perfect, and [child - 7] really enjoyed herself. (2024).
If you are interested in having a Christening with us, there are some documents to download that will give you more information, but do remember that while we do our best to accommodate your preferred date we can be booked up several months in advance.

The PDF form is 'fillable' and can be completed and emailed back to us
(but you can, of course print it off and complete it by hand and bring or post it back to us).
