Being married in another Church of England church and live in this parish?
That is probably why you have arrived at this page.

Most marriages in Church of England churches take place after the Reading of Banns. This is a special legal preliminary just for the Church of England. Banns (a simple declaration of the names, parish of residence of the couple and their intention to marry) are read in a church service on three Sundays at the church where the wedding service will take place during the three month period before the wedding.

If one, or both, of you  live(s) outside the parish where you are being married, banns need to be read at the church in the parish where you live too.  Remember it is your responsibility to make the arrangements for this - and forgetting to do so is likely to be costly.

(If you are not sure which parish church to approach to have your banns read, the website - www.achurchnearyou.com allows you to check by your home address postcode.)

In our parish banns are usually read on the first three Sundays of the month two months before the wedding.

If you request a banns certificate from this parish, (because you are being married elsewhere) you must have paid the fee due before your certificate can be issued.

What do I do to arrange for my banns to be read in Farlington Parish?

Contact the Rector Paul Gully here or by telephone 023 9237 5145 and arrange a time to meet with him. At this meeting he will explain the likely time when your banns will be read and take a copy of your identity. Since 2015 he has been required to see proof of nationality for both of you (a passport is the simplest). He will also ask to see proof of your address.

You can download the form below, complete it and bring it with you along with the ID. It is also a fillable pdf so you can complete it on screen, print it and sign it when we meet. Even if you don't complete it, it is helpful to make sure you know the answers to the questions which will be asked.
